Curriculum

Inspiring a lifelong love of learning through our learning powers of enthusiasm, imagination, cooperation, effort, concentration, perseverance, curiosity and improvement.

At Bournes Green Infant School we offer a broad and balanced curriculum, delivered in an innovative and engaging manner. We are passionate about providing the children with memorable learning experiences which bring learning to life.

At every opportunity pupils are challenged, questioned and encouraged to excel. In accordance with the National Curriculum (2015) and Early Years Foundation Stage (2012) the curriculum at Bournes Green Infant School aims to provide exciting and creative opportunities in order for all our pupils to learn and achieve. We plan and teach our curriculum around half termly themes and the children's interests.

The children follow a reading scheme which includes Rigby Star and Oxford Reading Tree texts alongside other quality scheme books. The children are encouraged to read a range of genres and texts and develop a love of reading. Our phonics teaching is based on Letters and Sounds which is a progressive phonics programme. The scheme is adapted to ensure it meets the needs of all learners.
