Bournes Green Infant School
is a member of
Southend East Community Academy Trust (SECAT)
At Bournes Green Infant School the governors, staff, children, parents and carers work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust in a community that is strengthened and enriched by a diversity of background, culture and religion. Our priority is to foster the self-confidence, self-esteem and independence of all in a climate of growth and opportunity that will enable us to achieve the highest standards. We actively promote a healthy environment in which children enjoy learning and develop the skills needed to become responsible members of society. We aim to bring learning to life.
Mrs Carol Sheern Headteacher
We are situated in a residential area, very near to a busy and popular seaside resort, Southend-on-Sea, on the River Thames estuary.
In the grounds of the school we have lots of tall trees and grassed areas, a playground, a tyre park and two fantastic wooden adventure areas.
We have 183 children on roll, aged from 4 to 7 years and our classes are arranged as follows:
Two parallel Year 2 classes – ages 6 and 7
Blue and Red Units
Two parallel Year 1 classes – ages 5 and 6
Green and Yellow Units
Two parallel Reception classes – ages 4 and 5
Orange and Purple Units
All children join the school in September at the start of the school year in which they are 5 and spend 3 years here before moving to Bournes Green Junior School which is just next door!
